I have been a filePro developer since 1989. I started coding in filePro while I was still in college. There, as part of a co-op program,I was sent to work for a small software development company based on Great Neck, Long Island. I clearly remember walking into this office and meeting the persons whom exposed me to custom application development, Nick Mouradian and John Macelli.
Nick will become my teacher, mentor and guide in my early years. I thought he was out of his mind when he sent me to one of his most prestigious accounts "Wood Stock Home Designs" in New York City, New York. My first task involved documenting a number of menus, their options and a couple dozen reports. Needless to say that by the end of my first day there, I had a very good understanding of dmakemenu and dmoedef.
As it is often the case, I eventually moved on and kept on using filePro on other development projects. I worked for companies such as North Shore Agency, Soft Systems and Solutions, Wellington Quest, Onnik Corp (which is owned by Nick), Miami International Forwarders, Eagle Global Logistics and Magno International. Of course, in between those, I managed to do some consulting work as well.
Nick and I stll work together every now and then. For the past couple of years, I have taken on PHP, CSS, AJAX, XML, XSL, JavaScript to build robust web based applications. Some of these applications use filePro as a database engine others, use MySQL.
My filePro jewel is an application I developed targetting the floor covering industry. While developed with one market in mind, I kept it flexible and virsitle enough to handle any retail, wholesale, service and/or distribution environment with little or no modification.
